Cash machine spews £20 notes during rush hour

A commuter had a nightmare start to his day after a cash machine starting shooting £20 notes across a busy tube station as he tried to make a withdrawal.

A video shared on online community Reddit showed a man making a withdrawal from a Bitcoin machine at Bond Street tube station, in London, when it malfunctioned.

The machine, which is designed to dispense large sums of money, couldn’t process the request and began to fire out £20 notes, which soon spread to the floor.

Luckily for the man a security guard quickly spotted the fault and helped protect his cash while he shoved the notes into a holdall though a number of commuters could be seen to eye the cash as the man attempted to gather it.

He told the Sun: “As you can see there is a bag in the front of ATM.

“However, our ATMs support large transactions and it is fair to say that a larger, redesigned presenter would be a good solution.

“Our customer was not particularly careful, although the ATM should be redesigned to cope better with small denominations used in the UK.”

It is not known if the man managed to retrieve all of his cash.
